Thank you for visiting the website of the Bellmore Presbyterian Church.

I am glad you have taken the time to explore our church fellowship. First of all let me introduce myself. I am a father of two adult children, Matthew, who has autism and Melissa, a college graduate of CW Post. I have been married to my wife, Linda, for 34 years. We grew up in Babylon and Lindenhurst.

As a Master of Divinity graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where the Holy Scriptures were deeply honored and explored, along with a Doctorate from Columbia Seminary, I have learned to better minister in a cultural context of *post-modernity. Whereas in the past, established churches assumed a right way of life based on family ties, and upheld by the cultural supports of the state, the media, and especially public schools, this is not the culture in today’s world. It is my guess that those of you who surf the web you know that we are no longer in Kansas.

I have been the Pastor here since 1989. I find that our congregation is a wonderful congregation for a seeker, as well as for those who enjoy and are committed to the traditions of the historic Christian and Reformed faith. We have a traditional service at 9:00 A.M. and a blended service at 10:30 A.M. in which visual videos enhance service.

ALL PEOPLE ARE WELCOME IN WORSHIP. YOU ARE ALSO WELCOME TO JOIN IN WHATEVER ACTIVITY, EVEN BEFORE JOINING US. TRY OUT THE CHOIR, COME TO A STUDY, OR DO WHATEVER IS BEST FOR YOU.  AS PASTOR, I AM HERE TO ASSIST YOU IN YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY.

The wonderful members of the congregation honor each person’s quest for truth, while also affirming our joint allegiance to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. When a new-comer decides it is time to join us as a member they come to a one-day Inquirer’s class, where we share our journeys of faith with one another, and fill out a Spiritual Gifts inventory. The inventory helps each person discovers his or her spiritual gifts, and how to use them to build up the church known also as the Body of Christ.

All of our new members are supported in a faith community, using the Presbyterian form of government to live out our faith. You can read more about that on this website.

Today we live our faith in a highly pluralistic and technological world with expanding higher education and mobile changes. Congregants can deepen their love for God, self, and neighbor as they learn how much they truly are loved by God. Together we are called to serve the world...

Thank you again for visiting our website. May God bless your spiritual journey. I hope to be talking with you soon to assist you. I remain…

Grateful to God,

Rev. Dr. Jim Barnum
